Textures and Tones Plus a Barn (Tuesday Edition)

My first photo today I am linking it up to BARN CHARM and to TONES ON TUESDAY

Technique Kim Klassens to be texture, I used linear light for my blending mode at 50% and used the airbrush at 50% opacity as well. I brushed over the lizard and some of the ground. This guy was at the Tulsa Zoo. Have to look down to see him. 

Tuesday Things

So I unfortunately failed at the Sunday Scavenger Hunt and the Monday blog hops as well as Macro Monday. I have been pretty good at keeping up with these but the last couple of days I have been so tired. I have no idea why but I can barely keep my eyes open. I have been spending a lot of time resting. What I can with having an 18mth old that has been really really cranky. 

This Tuesday I decided to do Texture Tuesday, Barn Charm and Tones on Tuesday all one image. Here it is. 

I converted this image to black and white then adjusted the hue and saturation to come up with an antique look, after that I applied Kim Klassen's (way texture) used the overlay and left the opacity at 100% and took a soft airbrush over the barn image at 40%. I wanted the old timey feel to the image and I believe I captured that.

Sweet Baby Logan

This is a photo I had taken a few months back to experiment with. He was in the bath tub. I had seen someone else take a picture and I asked her for advice on how she did it and created it. I followed her advice and came out with this. 

Not quit perfect, after-all it was my first try. So for this weeks Texture Tuesday over at Kim Klassen's Cafe, which you can check out HERE I just knew this picture would be perfect with a texture. 

I used Kim's texture Grey Day

and the image above, I used Photo Shope Elements 10 and used the Multiply with opacity set at 72% then I used a soft round airbrush at 40% opacity to go over the image of Logan himself and this is what I came out with

Still not perfect considering that little imperfection on the side of the head? I still like it though. Maybe no one will notice lol

Kind of plain right but still a beautiful shot. You are in for a treat. I found this shot this weekend and decided to play around with it in Photo Shop Elements and here is what I came up with

 I actually really like the turn out. Its amazing what a texture or two and gradient map will do.

Texture Tuesday

I am starting to get addicted to adding textures to pictures thanks to Kim Klassen and her Texture Tuesday Photo Challenge. I will admit it is fun and sometimes frustrating but you can end up with some great pictures. This week we were to take it outdoors and use one of her textures. I used her sunkissed texture and I did add a little quote.

Kim Klassen over at Kim Klassen Cafe hosts a blog thing every Tuesday called Texture Tuesday. She even provides you with free textures if you sign up to her mailing list and of course I did! You can have lots of fun with textures when you learn how to manage your layers. Which I am still learning and pretty much lost the whole freaking time. Nonetheless I try. To me that is what matters. This week she wanted us to use 2 of her textures so I chose her Paper love

Then I chose the Shine

 Then I blended them two together using overlay then I chose my image

And this is what I come up with

This is where my question come in, how come my image did not adjust to the size of the background texture?? This is where I get somewhat confused. Anyway I went on over to light room, cropped and messed with the lighting and my final photo is this,

When I was editing this photo earlier I knew I wanted to add a texture to it. I am satisfied with how it looks. How about you? And can someone give me some more "tutoring" on how come my image was not the same size? Why did I have to crop it?




A couple of hours later:
Okay guys I think I got it. I must have been having a total brain fart! Geez, when you put your image on top of another you can adjust the size right there. Ugh I feel like an idiot. 
So I went about this again but I chose the textures simplicity and Shine and this is what I came up with this time.

So I cropped, increased contrast and used the sharpen tool just as Sarah Halstead did with her photo. Hers is much better though!

This is the untouched version. And of course I did not use a flower flower but a tree blossom. I figured it would count.

08 and 09 Photo Flashback

Yesterday was a HOT lazy Sunday and it will only be getting HOTTER this week. We stayed in and did absolutely nothing. Besides my normal cleaning routine. I have been letting the kids do the chores around the house but today I flipped. I could not take it anymore. I had to wash the dishes myself. Whew my kitchen is now clean. I am also not feeling normal. I am stressed to the max and just so angry towards everything and everyone. I have no explanation why, I just feel off. 

Anyways I decided to go through some of my old photos on our D-link that I have taken. Since I now have some great editing software that I am in love with (lightroom 4) I wanted to edit some old photos and I have decided to share some of my favorite ones on here. These are from the years 2008 and 2009. 

I thought this church deserved some texture

Okay here is my before picture of a dragonfly that I snapped over the weekend

Here I used PhotoShops Lightroom 4 and added the  Medium Contrast Curve to the picture

Then I proceeded to enhance the picture to the Aged Photo setting in Lightroom 4

Now here I save the photo and switch over to my Photo Elements 10. I decided to add a texture to this photo. I have never done this before so I thought it might be fun.

I went to the texturizer and chose burlap with 109% scaling with the relief being set at 4 and this is my result.

I was happy with the result. I thought about adding a frame but decided it would be just to much. 

I think I actually like this texturized :-) Do not be afraid to tell me what you think.

Yes I realize I am posting late in the night for the Sunday Hunt. I even got everything prepped and ready for it last night. I have just been lazy today and not really doing a thing on the computer. This is the first time I have even picked it up today.

My son does not like the grass on his feet! Such a silly little boy. And yes those are my fuzzy slippers.

My son has a thing with texture when he eats his food. Here is my baby trying a tomato which took him forever to even touch it because he did not like the feel of it.

Face Your Fears

My biggest fear is drowning! I even have nightmares about it. But this was some flooding we had a couple years back. My husband insisted we get out during this to take pictures. I was scared to death and I still AM!!

Currently

My baby boy on a slide at the park for the first time. This was yesterday. Many days will be spent at the park this summer!
