It' Okay That I will Not Be Returning to College

Where am I linking up today? That would be over at Airing My Dirty Laundry for It's Okay Tuesday.

Its Okay......
That I found out that I can not do my bachelors degree. I had decided to go back to college and get my bachelors in Business Administration. Not something I particularly wanted to do but it's what is in demand in the job industry around here. You can go anywhere with a BS degree. Well I already have an associates, but that degree is no good for anything and I found out I wasted tons of money doing this. I was young so therefore I screwed around, failed classes, dropped out, went back so in my being dumb and making bad choices I ran up my student loan bill. I am at $55,000! Ouch! Scary number huh? I did not know that they put a cap on student loans until a few days ago. The cap is $57,000. So that left me with $2,000 plus what I can get from a pell grant which is about $4,000. Yeah right, this will not get me my bachelors at $414 a credit! So I un-enrolled. No more college for me. Its okay though, I did not want to really go for that. I will just be a stay at home mom for a long time and figure out how to pay those crappy loans that are worthless.

Logan starts his new preschool tomorrow. I am excited about him going and its okay that I will miss him. He will be in good hands. Hopefully much better hands than his previous school. Check out this video that shows what a wonderful school/company this is.

It will be all okay....My son will be in wonderful hands :-)

Dinosaur Footprint Project

Have you noticed that craft projects with younger kids such as toddlers is actually a craft project for the adult that is helping? My son has a craft he does at the end of his therapy sessions and it usually turns into his therapist doing it or today it was me doing it.

Logan has 4 hours of therapy everyday but Tuesday and Saturday and by the 3rd hour he is just plain ol give out. Especially when he was going to school. He has been out a couple of weeks now and that will be a future post as to why. In order to make it more fun a craft hour was implemented into his therapy which involves puzzles, books and a craft. Well he likes everything but the craft he could care less for.

He was supposed to do paint and trains yesterday but he had no interest in it. So I found something on pinterest and wanted to see if he would enjoy it.
Like I said it was us that ended up doing this project.

What you need:
green paint or whatever color you want your dinosaur
black marker
googly eye
glue

As you can see he was not the happiest person in the world to be doing craft time. The finished product is cute though.
Find the Pin HERE and follow me on pinterest! By the way I just joined picket fence blogs so please click on the button on the side bar to give me a vote so my blog can get in the line up!  c61c0edb9fdbe9c356fca185331cad1ea5f09fee3e526c1ba6

Just Tired But Still Smiling!

I am so tired today! My son did not go to school today and I forgot to turn off my alarm. I still woke up at 6:30 and just could not get myself back into a sleep mode. Logan ended up waking up around 8 or so. Lucky me I got to have a few text exchanges between Logans birth father and myself. I hope one day he will understand autism. Until then I will just have to keep preaching to him it seems. Logan goes for his surgery on Tuesday and his birth father has decided he wants to be present. This is fine and all but why after he has not been to see Logan since December? Why now? Logan needs routine and someone in his life regular and not to have a man that shows up whenever he can which is not often and at the worse of times. This is not only stressful for Logan but for everyone who participates in his care. His doctors, therapists, school teachers ets..I have no idea how much more I can explain this to his birth father. He just doesnt seem to understand. There is more to it but I spare you all the details. Unless I am asked of course.

Anyways on to the happy part of the day! It so feels like it is the start of the weekend on my part. I do not know why I am hurrying it along. Logan has surgery Tuesday and he had a pre-op today. My son will have his tonsils and adenoids removed and another set of tubes put in. Needless to say I double checked with the ENT today to make sure he really needs this surgery and he told me it was very reasonable to be doing it so onward we go to slice and dice :-) I am trying to be humorous. I am really scared to death. I do not think I would be so nervous about it if he was "normal" but being autistic I think it may be more rough than anticipated or he could just surprise us all.

We also stopped and got Logans new shoes with the build up and the new orthotics (the ones his physical therapist said he did not need) and after that we headed to Buffalo Wild Wings! I have never been there and it was my first time eating there. I have to say it was pretty good and will write a better post just about that in the future.

I have thought I would give it a go and participate in the Family Photo Friday hop over at Thursdays Child
It is difficult for everyone to get into photos at once considering someone has to be holding the camera. I have decided to post pictures of what smiles we got today! We may not all be in ONE photo but we are in numerous, separately.
Yes our furbabies are family as well. Loki, Missy and Zuri
Hey at least his finger was NOT in his nose

This was us today! The oldest was gone at a band concert for highschool graduation. WTF?? A graduation on a weekday?? Who knew?

Mid Week Re-Cap

This week has been eventful to say the least. More eventful than usual... Of course all of the events revolve around Logan.
He had an appointment with his Ear Nose Throat doctor on Tuesday. At least I think it was Tuesday.
My days just seem to run together. Anyway the conclusion is my son has to have his tonsils, adenoids removed and another set of tubes put in. Logan's ears were clear at this appointment but since the tubes have fallen out Logan has had chronic ear infections. That is why the decision for the adenoids was made. Then the doctor looked at his tonsils. Logan has not had any issues with strep throat but his tonsils are big! His are a 3+

Since Logan has disturbed sleep and snores often we have made the decision to remove his tonsils as well.
I am terrified of this. I know it is a simple and routine procedure that doctors do everyday. But my son is not a "normal" kid. He will not eat the recommended foods after the surgery. His better part of the day is spent yelling. That is the way he communicates or shows his emotions. Last time he was put under for his MRI his blood pressure dropped. I am just scared. I know it will be best for him in the future but I hate to see him suffer. I have a bad feeling he will be in pain.

A new line therapist(for ABA) started this week. Logans regular therapists last day is today. I have a good feeling about the new therapist but I know it will take Logan a bit to get used to her. She has only been here twice with the other therapist here as well. I guess we will find out Sunday how it goes. It will be the first day she is on her own with Mr. Logan.

Since the storms moved through on Sunday it has been pretty cool outside. Not so hot and not so cold. It has made perfect weather for my two huskies. They have been enjoying the temps and the sunshine.
One thing, since our yard gets flooded when it rains we get tons of mud bugs or crawdads in our yard. These two love to dig them up and eat them and roll around on them. They smell to high heaven! Bath time and tooth brushing in the future!! (Zuri has been done, it will be Lokis turn soon)

Hope you all enjoy the rest of your week and the upcoming weekend.

Happy Homemaker Monday

I found a new link up. It is called Happy Homemaker Monday! Seems like fun. So if your looking for something to blog about on Mondays this seems great!
I have had a busy beginning of the month with moving and getting Logan into his new school with new therapists so I have slacked in my blogging once again. Something always seems to get in the way.
I had to put Logan to bed already, I have ate dinner that I cooked for just me and maybe my fiance whenever he gets home from work. So I have free time and decided why not try to blog for once since its been so long since I have.

Happy Homemaker Monday

The Weather--It is hot and humid. What do you expect? It is June in Arkansas. So happy I actually got a swimming pool this year. First time ever. I have never owned one nor did I even get the pleasure of growing up with one. We were lucky if we even visited the creek twice a year. Probably a huge part of why I do not know how to swim.

Right Now I Am--Sitting on my couch with my laptop on the coffee table, digesting my wonderful dinner and drinking my cold pepsi waiting for some certain show to come on t.v. and of course waiting for my fiance to come home. The highlight of my nights.

Thinking--So I am thinking how many people will actually read this and be interested. Since I have slacked off in the blogging world when I do post I get hardly any views. I need to discipline myself to post more often. I have been saying it for almost 2 years now and never seem to follow through with it.

On My Reading Pile--I have been wanting to re-read the hunger games. I remember the first well, I never finished the last couple of chapters in the third book but I can not seem to remember the second one very well. Not like I can the fist and the movie is supposed to come out in November if I am not mistaken and I am ready. I guess I should finish the the last book before going back.

On My T.V.-- At this very second it is The Big Bang Theory. I am waiting patiently for the premier of Under The Dome, a Steven King creation.

What I Found While Surfing The Net--I come across all kinds of things all the time. Mainly I am on facebook. I guess you could say that I am addicted. But because of the pages I like I come across some pretty interesting thing. For example I follow a page called Stop Discrimination Against Special Needs it is very inspiring. Personal stories are posted and questions are asked and answered by a variety of individuals. You should check it out.

On The Menu For This Week--Tonight I had twice baked potato casserole (yummy yummy)
Tomorrow Leftovers possibly?? hard decisions because we also have chicken salad left over
Wednesday will more than likely be another left over night
Thursday I may put on a pot of black eyed peas
Friday I have no idea at the moment.

On My To Do List--What isnt it seems. I need to pick up kids sometime this week, Wednesday I will. Get my son ready for his school everyday this week. He does not have a summer vacation for his day-habilitation.
Looking Forward To This Week--The weekend, always the weekend. For the simple fact that I can be with my fiance without him going to work. Yes we sound sickening in love dont we?

Looking Around The House--I cleaned today so there is nothing out of sorts. Of course I clean everyday. Only thing out of place is one of Logans trucks laying in the middle of the living room floor.

From The Camera--New pool, new photo opportunities

On My Prayer List--Everyone
Bible Verse--( I am not a very religious person, I keep my faith to myself and honestly I dont have any verses off the top of my head) I am so sorry if this causes any issues. My son has a really cute one painted on his bedroom wall though

Therapy Shortage

Last night I decided to go through a lot of my sons paperwork from his school. As many of you know my son has been diagnosed with "preliminary autism".
The motivation for this project was the fact that I have noticed his little check marks in his cuddle grams for going to some of his therapy had not been checked off. (for over a week) Now my son is supposed to receive 135 minutes a week of physical therapy and occupational therapy and 180 minutes a week of speech therapy. You add all this together and it equals roughly to about 540 minutes of each one a month. I did the math since I do save all his papers from school and he has never, ever received the amount of therapy recommended. Give and take it has been the holidays and he does miss school due to illness but he has yet to break even close to 300 minutes per session. This month I will say the speech therapist has been doing really well and is in there everyday working with Logan.
I made a trip into the school to see one of the directors and ask why my son does not receive his therapy. I could not get a straight answer of course and she used the excuse that they are short handed. So because of their lack of being able to keep people employed my son and others kids have to take a back seat to therapy. Therapy that is important in helping these children learn the basics they need.
Not only have I heard that this is an issue with this school but once you bring it up to their attention it will be addressed. I was basically told by another person who has had the same issue with this particular problem is the fact that parents do not keep track themselves so they don't bother with it. I am somewhat obsessed when it comes to my sons care. From what I have learned not many parents care as much and there are only a handful of us that do. It is a shame if you ask me. Makes me very very sad for those kids.
Needless to say if I do not start seeing improvement and an increase in therapy I will be finding other ways to get my son his therapy.
One of the downfalls living where I do, not enough resources for kids with Autism. There is only one school. Yes one choice for us parents. As far as extra therapies there is only one other choice here. Equine therapy. Which I need to check the age limits to that. Logan just may enjoy the horses.

Back In It

Hi folks, I have been pretty busy lately and I have not taken the time out to relax and post to my blog. This week has just been a whirlwind of Doctors appointments and paper-work. Well actually this all started Wednesday. Before that I had two photo shoots on Sunday so I spent a day or two on that and only that. The discs are already out and mailed to the customers. Record time! Less than a week.
My son Logan finally had is appointment with the developmental pediatrician and was evaluated by the speech and cognitive therapists. He is definitely delayed. If you are interested my husband and I have decided to start a blog on our journey through this "adventure." You can view it HERE!! I would love to have my readers follow us there as well. Only if you are interested in our journey with this possibly autism diagnosis. I am going to be doing my best to get back in the groove of things here.
My photo shoot Sunday was a blast. I had two beautiful kids to photograph and I would like to share a few from each one of their shots with you. So without further ado here you go!

Here I was not really focusing on the shoes but more of the water lily in the back. I also did this picture where everything is black and white but the the grass and plants and trees. I love it besides the power-lines.

Luckily the I have another photo shoot Friday at 5!! Wish me luck
