So the last couple of days I have been seeing blooms laying around on the ground and looked and looked and could not find where they were coming from.
I posted a picture on facebook and got a lot of responses on what they could be. Anything from trumpet lily to day lilies. Everyone wanted to think it was a lily. I had one person say a "hummingbird flower" So I looked that up and seen it said a trumpet vine. I kept reading and it said it did not bloom until June. Here it is and its only April. So I passed it off because of that and I never could find a vine. Anywhere!! I walk out this morning and see these blooms basically covering the ground. I look even harder and I found where they were coming from.
Yes this is indeed the "hummingbird flower" or trumpet vine. This is the only living thing on this tree. It was the last place I would have thought to look. It does not start low to the ground. Which is weird but it doesn't.
Supposedly this attracts hummingbirds. I have not seen any flying around it today. All I have seen are bees. If this plant is not supposed to bloom until June does this mean we are going to have a bad summer? Ugh I hate the heat. I hope this is not a sign of what is to come.
A tidbit of information on this vine. It will cause a reaction to people if the leaves are touched, something similar to poison ivy.

I suggest if your allergic to poison ivy, do not touch this plan.
