Tuesday Dragonfly

I am very pleased to be participating in 5 different blog hops this Tuesday. I figured it was a great way to meet new bloggers and show off my picture.
Join the rest of us at

Okay here is my before picture of a dragonfly that I snapped over the weekend

Here I used PhotoShops Lightroom 4 and added the  Medium Contrast Curve to the picture

Then I proceeded to enhance the picture to the Aged Photo setting in Lightroom 4

Now here I save the photo and switch over to my Photo Elements 10. I decided to add a texture to this photo. I have never done this before so I thought it might be fun.
I went to the texturizer and chose burlap with 109% scaling with the relief being set at 4 and this is my result.
I was happy with the result. I thought about adding a frame but decided it would be just to much.
I think I actually like this texturized :-) Do not be afraid to tell me what you think.

Working On My Skills!

First I would like to say kudos to those working bloggers! How in the world do you find time to blog and work, I will never know. I guess you can prioritize your time correctly. Something I have discovered that I can not do.

I have had a few more photo shoots and it seems I have been spending most of my time editing those photos. I am self teaching myself photoshop so yeah this takes a lot of time. I'm cheating a little and using photoshop elements 10. It's easier than the photoshop cs3 I also have that confuses the crap out of me.

But I am managing and I am happy with some of my work that I have done. I have really come to love an effect called depth field. Love love this.
Here is an example of it.

This is an effect where you focus on your subject and blur out the background. Not to shabby if I say so myself.
My last two shoots that I have booked were couples sessions, but of course I sneak in some individuals as well. Hence the two at top. But I love couples shoots. They are fun. Capturing the love in the couples eyes is worth it.

I am still learning and by no means claim to be a professional. I mainly do this as a hobby and if I make some money off of it, then fantastic! So far I am having a blast and it feels great getting out of the house and doing something that I enjoy. I still have lots of practice but so far I think I am doing well.

So It's Friday, What Are You Up To?

Yes it is Friday, and most people are totally excited about it but myself being a stay at home mom its another day. Seems like a beautiful weekend is coming our way. Today it was gloomy, rainy and cold. It was very nice sleeping weather.
I realize today was 4/20,
but our Water Company was closed and we did not receive any mail?? No idea why the water place was closed and maybe I just did not receive any mail. Am I missing something? Anyways like I said earlier, it was just another day for us in our household. No celebrating this stoners holiday or whatever holiday it may be for our water department to be closed. I am not against the smoking of marijuana or anything but I have seen this photo posted all over my facebook news feed and find it funny in a lol sorta way.
Good luck to all of you who celebrated today :-)
Yesterday was pretty much as boring as today has been. My husband spent most of his time working on the computers. Trying to get Linux installed on one of the laptops, making space on the other one, re-installing Photoshop on one of the computers so I can step up my game on picture editing. Looks like I will be taking some courses on line on how to use Photoshop. At least the basics at least. I am wanting to really get into my photographing hobby, of course I always want to get into something. I always start then never finish. I always seem to lose track and start on something else that I don't finish. Its a nasty pattern to be into.
We did spend a little bit of time outside yesterday in the late evening. Logan really seemed to enjoy it. Even though he tried to eat everything he sees. He has to try everything.

You can definitely tell Spring is here. There are caterpillars everywhere you step, turn and look.

For the dinner (thanks to the husband) we had beans and potatoes, but as us southern gals like to say, fried taters. Logan was eating them just fine at first then he decided he did not want a thing to do with it.

Hopefully he enjoys tonights dinner better, once again thanks to the old man. He likes to cook. Thank goodness because honestly I do not for the most part. I get into my moods but mostly I am not a cooker.

Everyone enjoy your Friday night and if you feel like doing some blog hops this weekend click on the image below and have a wonderful weekend and happy hopping.
