Making A Cranky Baby Happy With Babozoo

Just admit it, all of us mommies have been there. We are trying to shop, run errands or have a dinner and our child or children decide it is a good time to get cranky and scream at the top of their lungs to try to get anything but give you peace. Sometimes it can be embarrassing. I especially hate it when we are in a restaurant. Many times have we played the whole, you hold the baby while I eat then I will hold the baby while you eat. So much for enjoying our dinner together. Sorry folks it happens when you have kids. Kiss your peaceful meals goodbye! Kiss the quiet shopping time goodbye and kiss an enjoyable trip to the grocery store gone too. Oh who am I kidding. I never liked doing most of those things anyway.

With my second child we had to totally avoid the toy aisle in Wal-Mart. If she seen a barbie of any sort she wanted it and she let us know that she wanted it and if she did not get it she let us and everyone in the dang store know. (thanks to her grandma) My first was 14 and a half years ago and I can not remember much except using the whole "Do you want to go to the bathroom?" For you parents out their that have never heard that phrase, it means. I will tear your butt up in that bathroom if you do not listen! Do not make me have to take you to the bathroom! One of the many phrases I swore I would never repeat to my kids that my parents repeated to me.

Okay anyways back to what I want to get at. Okay let me set the scene for you. Parents waiting for their much anticipated, delicious steak dinners when all the sudden your year and a half year old gets mad. Really mad just simply because he or she is bored! You give him or her crackers, in the floor it goes. You try bread, in the floor that goes. You even try to give them the silverware and you got it..to the floor it goes. Mom goes into panic mode and dad is looking around to see who all is staring. This is when we bring out our trusty smartphone. Which in reality it was probably already on the table beside you. We always went to the Bubble Guppies show that was put on the phone by my husband just for this reason.

Guess what? I found something just as good. I hope! I have not tried it in public yet but I have done it here at home. I found an app. for Logan. The name of it is Babozoo. It is for ages six months and up. Its simple but yet when I handed my phone to my son with this on he started laughing immediately and forgot what he was mad about to begin with. Its a free download on the android market. I am not sure about Iphone but I am sure it is available. It has little animal faces pop up with their sounds. Its a learning opportunity for your little nugget! Its simple but the only thing that is missing is a lock. My son can push the home key and get out of the application and get very upset again and then we have to repeat the process. My screen could stand to be a bit bigger for this but my son loves it and that is what matters. Watch the video and see for yourself.

So the next time you are out with your little nugget and they decide to let everyone know that they are unhappy try this app and see if it works for your kiddo! Hope it works for you as it has me so far.....Until he gets bored and I have to find something else. If you are interested in checking it out go HERE

Sweet Baby Logan

This is a photo I had taken a few months back to experiment with. He was in the bath tub. I had seen someone else take a picture and I asked her for advice on how she did it and created it. I followed her advice and came out with this.

Not quit perfect, after-all it was my first try. So for this weeks Texture Tuesday over at Kim Klassen's Cafe, which you can check out HERE I just knew this picture would be perfect with a texture.

I used Kim's texture Grey Day

and the image above, I used Photo Shope Elements 10 and used the Multiply with opacity set at 72% then I used a soft round airbrush at 40% opacity to go over the image of Logan himself and this is what I came out with

Still not perfect considering that little imperfection on the side of the head? I still like it though. Maybe no one will notice lol

Barn Charm

Seems like Barn Charm snuck up on me this week. The husband and I went driving around and I got some great shots of some barns but since this snuck up on me so quickly I will not be sharing those shots with ya'll until next time. I have not had a chance to download them to the computer from the card yet. The card is still sitting in my camera.
So this weeks Barn feature will be from the winter time of about two years ago. We had an old country road behind where we lived and we always went for a drive back there. There was also a Lake. It is actually the road to the Lake.  Lake Wilson to be exact. This barn sits on the side of the dirt road. Yes it is a winter shot but hey! Hope you enjoy this weeks submission. I am yearning for winter.

I am linking up with Barn Charm and you can to or if you just want to take a look at some other awesome barns click HERE

Macros

This is a newer blog prompt I have recently started following called Macro Monday you can join in or just browse HERE at Lisa's Chaos! Here is my submission

Kind of plain right but still a beautiful shot. You are in for a treat. I found this shot this weekend and decided to play around with it in Photo Shop Elements and here is what I came up with

I actually really like the turn out. Its amazing what a texture or two and gradient map will do.

Oh by the way I finally made a button for my blog! If you would like grab it in the side bar!!

Laundry Blues

It is Monday! Well on my time it is two hours from Monday but still. Today is one of the days where I link up with some wonderful blog hops and have a chance to discover new blogs as well as hope that others will follow me and enjoy my blogs.
This weekend has been pretty bland! It is to hot to do anything, and to me even to hot to swim. Of course its not my favorite thing to do anyways considering I am a 31 year old woman who can not swim to even save my own life! So that leaves plenty of time to clean house right?  HA HA yeah okay! The last two weeks I have cared less about how my house looks. I have about just given up anyways. Logan destroys it all anyway. Okay well if your not cleaning you could at least put away laundry? BIG NO! This is my worse chore. I absolutely hate laundry. I can wash and dry laundry all day long. Umm if I remember to dry it. I usually forget the washer has even stopped and end up having to wash them over and over again. The bright side, at least our clothes are clean :-) And instead of putting up the clothes when they are straight out of the dryer I think to myself, I will do it later. I would rather blog right now. Yeah right! That does not happen either. So I have a pile at the back of my couch in the corner of a huge pile of CLEAN clothes that need to be folded and put up. Probably thrown back in the dryer to de-wrinkle because I DO NOT IRON! But the whole process would start all over again. Dryer to the floor to wrinkled and repeat. Yes I will get up off my butt and get off this computer and do it. I just do not know when.
The pile that begs for attention. Its behind the couch, I can not see it so therefore the attention begging does not work on me!
Do any of you hate laundry as much as I do?

The Things We Find Inside

Sunday Social and Stuck Birds

I wanted to post this while I was thinking of it. If you are a regular reader you have read my post about the bench my husband made, if not you can read it HERE.
Right before we started working on our bench we had to rescue a little birdie. We had left our garage door open all day so it flew in and could not get out.

My husband decides to get out the tiny little fish net to catch the little bird.
And after about 30 minutes of chasing him around he finally caught him and was able to let him out, outside!
I wonder if this is one of the chickadees that comes to visit every morning?

Over at Ashleys Carnival Ride I stumbled upon a new blog hop called The Sunday Social, so if you would like to join and meet new bloggers go HERE
Looks like there are six question to answer.
1. What is your Dream job?
As a kid and even a teenager and still yet I would love to be a lawyer. Yes one of those scum sucking S.O.B.s. Just something about finding loop holes in the law, the research and all those shows make it look so...well...fun! I love to argue so what better way right? As a lawyer you have permission to.

2. If you had just won the lottery, and did not have to work for money, what would you do with your time.
Well what I do now. Blog and photography.

3. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up.
Refer to #1

4. What piece of career advice would you give someone starting out in your field?
What field? The field of being a stay at home momma? If so then what I can say is do what you want with your child, it is your kid. And never turn down help!

5. What are your biggest pet peeves in life, blogging and at work.
My biggest ever pet peeve is eating with your mouth full. I can not stand that. In blogging I do not like the captcha thing when you comment. I would probably comment on others blogs much more if it was not for those annoying little things that I can hardly ever get right. In life, that would be lieing. Nothing more I hate in this world is a lier.

6. What are your biggest fear?
Snakes, drowning and losing my kids. Not necessarily in that order.

From Beginning To End--To A New Beginning

I meant to post this blog a week ago but have been doing my other blogging stuff, that I am just now getting around to doing. (watch, I will be struggling this weekend to find a post to write.)

Anyway last week my husband decided to make a surprise for me. He went and bought the lumber and I kept guessing and guessing but he never would tell me. When we got home from his Lowes trip I had to lay down and take a nap because I was wiped out.

When I woke up this is what he had done. Well he had it a bit more put together. He asked me to help him put it up on some saw horses so he could work on it some more. I honestly can not remember what he said for me to pose this question but I said "Why, its just a bench?" His reply was.."Yeah and?" Ha Ha he told on himself! I knew what my surprise was. Well not so much of a surprise now.

So here is the work of my bench in progress.
 Logan had to help too!

Then of course I had to help also.

Here it is! My hand-built, custom made 8ft. bench. Trust me it has gotten great use just this one week of its new life. Its nice having a place to sit outside and watch my son play or watch the birds. I have been getting up in the mornings when my husband comes home from work and sitting, just me and him outside watching the birds and just chatting. This is the beginning of new memories for us. It is amazing how such a small thing can play such a role in our everyday life. Especially an 8ft. bench.

Friday Creation

We had a much needed cool down around here but of course the heat will go right back up in a day or two. The husband and I decided to take a small drive looking for some photographic opportunities. We got some pretty good shots but those will have to wait for another post. Today I am linking up with a few photo link ups which I will list below but here I am gonna throw this out there.

Textures are becoming addictive. I wish I could tell you what one I used. I know it is a bokeh one and I used the overlay but I did some other stuff to it that I honestly can not remember because I did go through a ton of processes. This is only my fourth photo I have created. (I think)...Maybe fifth or sixth :-)
But the point is I am enjoying learning and the creativity.

I Spy--Creepy Crawly

Woo Hoo I will show you some pictures of our lovely creepy crawly friend we get to see everyday! Every morning he or she, not sure how you know, will always be out and about around the same spot.

He or she does not mind us so much either.

Now for my choice, which I will take you along the very same day this above pictures were shot. The very same morning. Another one of our daily visitors.
We actually had to rescue one of these pretties out of our garage last week. Somehow it could not figure out how to get out.

To link up with I spy go on over to Crazy Daze and Night Dreams or to just check out some more awesome creepy crawlies!
